    Last October I walked in the Nieuwstraat and was enormously inspired by the building. Its stunning marl cellar staircase visible from the storefront and the mix of wooden beams with sleek plasterwork captured my imagination. This spurred my vision to blend tradition with modernity, and the local with the international, creating a space for both the local and international communities of Maastricht to immerse in the tranquility, slow down, and discover authentic Japanese Matcha from Kagoshima, along with its accompanying rituals. Collaborating with a local ceramic artist broadened my concept, enabling visitors to The Matcha Society to fully experience Japanese Matcha and embark on their own ritualistic journey. At The Matcha Society, nearly everything is handmade, embodying my passion for creation from scratch, my source of life energy. It's designed to be a place of continuous inspiration and creativity.
